What a beautiful and thoughtful history. I remember your mom as I knew her through art, walking, talking and friendship. You are a gift of love to her. Best wishes, Lauren L

Wow, the prints are beautiful. And Latvia? I spent a sabbatical year in Riga! One of the most wonderful, and strange, experiences of my life.

My wife had been in the Peace Corps there around 1995-6 and when I got my very first sabbatical (1998) I was originally thinking we'd go to Southern Spain... and then she says, "But I got research money to go back to Latvia" (she was finishing an MA in history and was looking at the Holocaust in the Baltics). And so it was Riga instead. I ended up lecturing on environmental ethics at the university there. We lived a block from the railroad station. Still pretty rough in those days but astonishing. Also, I can still count in Latvian. :^)
